Jan 29, 2007 – Just less than a week ago on Monday, January 22nd,the new Wal-Mart Super Center located at 101 Tanglewood Parkway had its grand opening. At 207,581 square feet, this store is nearly twice the size of the old store at Port Elizabeth Centre.
Within the new store shoppers will find a totally stocked grocery store; this alone is the most significant addition. The grocery section will include bakery goods, dairy products, deli, fresh produce and frozen goods.
Along with the traditional services offered by Wal-Mart the new store also includes a drive-thru pharmacy, Tire & Lube Express, vision center, and a portrait studio with one-hour photo lab. Regal Nails Salon and Spa, Subway Sandwiches & Salads restaurant, Smart Style Family Hair Salon, and Wood Forest Bank is also located in the store.
Outside the store a Murphy USA gas station and nine new retail stores are joining Wal-Mart at The Shoppes at Tanglewood, many are open or will be opening soon. Those stores include Andy’s Cheeseburgers & Cheesesteaks, The Board Room, China Buffet, Claire’s, Contours Express, Game Stop, H&R Block, Hair Cuttery, and the Shoe Show.
According to the Daily Advance Wal-Mart plans to employ more than 500 workers, 193 of whom have
been recently hired. The store will be open the same hours as the old store: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and only closed on Christmas Day.
