Apr 12, 2011 – The Downtown Waterfront Market seeks sponsors for this year’s series, which opens May 7 on the green at Mariners’ Wharf Park. This is an ideal opportunity for businesses who wish to align their name with the “live local, shop local” marketing concept, or those who like the idea of supporting a “green” business incubator.
“By supporting our local farmers, growers, artisans and performers, we can provide a place where they can expand their businesses and our community,” said Amy Finn, Downtown Waterfront Market event coordinator.
Sponsorships are $500 and include logo placement on every page of the market website, in 6-8 display advertisements in the Daily Advance and signs displayed prominently at the market each week. Sponsorship dollars go a long way
toward the market’s operational and advertising costs. In return, sponsors know they are providing support for their community and local businesses.
New to this year’s market series, Finn replaced Denise Richards, who organized the seasonal event since it opened in 2008.
“The market is such a popular event,” said Finn. “It’s become a great place to see your neighbors, have a coffee and enjoy the scene, while you shop for the freshest produce in town.”
On opening day, look for homegrown, local produce including asparagus, collards, onions and green tomatoes; fresh flowers, annuals, perennials and herbs; baked goods; homemade preserves; and handcrafted work by local artisans. Several non-profit groups will be on hand with information, including the SPCA and Albemarle Hopeline. In honor of Kentucky Derby weekend, market-goers may wear their favorite derby hat and take their chance at the market’s own Rubber Duck Derby.
The Downtown Waterfront Market will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October. Visit www.downtownwaterfrontmarket.com for details and updates on live entertainment. For information about market sponsorships, contact Finn at (252) 338-0169 or email@example.com
